Ancestors
and Descendants
Of all the things I’ve enjoyed in life,
I’ve enjoyed my time with you most.
My spirit dwells in the house of the Lord, my body was
merely an earthly host.
My worldly treasures include; my beloved instrument, how I
once did love to play,
An ethereal note now echoes throughout the heavens in the
night and in the day.
Hear my song, in the early spring, when the blossoms begin
to bloom
Whippoorwills carry my song to you through their cheerful
tune.
Look upon the family silver now resting in a weathered
velvet case. Look closer still, you will find my reflection in your handsome
face.
Like the snow capped mountains that reflect onto placid
water-you are my son, I am your father.
My rhythm is in your heart, my blood in your veins, I am
woven into your every fiber…
You are my descendant, I am your ancestor.
Like many of our loved ones before me, my time had come to
pass.
Take comfort, dear family, my most cherished thoughts of
you were my very last.
Do not weep over the earth where my remains lie, Look into
the heavens, turn your face up toward the sky.
Think of what the future will bring, there is always a
dawn and always a spring-Your children are God’s greatest blessing.
Things and memories do not come with us to the grave…
Children are our legacy, for Christ is the gift to all
God’s children-the greatest gift he gave.
