Great Grandfathers
A full and glowing moon, sailing high into black velvet skies
Between each cloud, peeping in and out, many an ancestor it doth spy.
Lying awake in gleaming light, a hauntingly familiar apparition in my sight.
Deep in muddy trenches, across the prairie and upon the riverbank…
Dearly departed Great Grandfathers, however can I Thank?
Of this Earth, up into the heavens and to the depths of the sea…
Never shall I take for granted the battles you have fought, so that we your family, shall forever be free
For when the echoes of phantom cannons sound, and the bell of freedom rings…
I vow to always say a prayer and think of thee…Glory, Glory! The people sing!
