Ode to the Pumpkin

Ode to the Pumpkin

Pumpkins in patches: in shades of red, orange and ghostly white

A jack-o-lantern’s crooked grin to light up a dark autumn night.

Pumpkins for roasting, carving and decorating,

The scent of fresh cinnamon and clove cannot be mistaken.

Just as in the days of yore, you will always find the ones whom truly adore…

For pumpkins of many spirits will be awaiting you at their door.

For tricks and treats, and other childhood delights-

There’s no invitation as warm as a jack-o-lantern’s light.
